Introducing my first ickle baby skein of hand spun yarn.

Got sent some goodies on Saturday from The Yarn Yard and included was some small bits of fibre.. Sat and played with the merino yesterday, which I haven’t spun with before and using my lighter weight spindle from Drop Whorl Spindles, this one is 18 grams and I just couldn’t get it to work..
After the success of spinning on the 36 gram one last week, thought well lets give is a whirl and whirl is did.
So this is the first to be plied and have the twist set.. that means, soaking in warm water, rolling in a towel to get out the excess water and then gulp… whacking! to fluff up the yarn.. well it didn’t all fall apart on me.. phew and weighs in at 7 grams and if my maths is right, about 53 yards.. this is going to be my pet skein.

On the needles, has been a pair of socks
Milanese Tor Socks
Yarn: Bambino, colourway Tor.. from Wild Fire Fibres
Pattern: Milanese socks from MSKS

Currently on the needles
Mink Adamas Shawl
Pattern: Adamas Shawl
Yarn: Lacy Merino, colourway Mink, from Anni, dyed for me for helping with the Celebrations Shawl

What I was spinning last week hasn’t been forgotten
Drop Spindle cop full
Its done as far as the single part, waiting on some more tools to arrive in the post, either today or tomorrow, to ply it and skein it.. tools for the first one was my hand to ply (not too sure I would want to repeat that method again) and a mini Niddy Noddy.
This will need a Nostepinne and a bigger Niddy Noddy.. Drop Whorl Spindles for both and while there ordered another even lighter spindle.. now mastered a lot easier on the arms to use..
